Before Your Procedure at Star Vascular Access Center

At Star Vascular Access Center, we want you to feel confident and informed, secure in the knowledge that we do our utmost to ensure that your visit runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible.

Before your procedure, a registered nurse will discuss your medical history with you. Your doctor will also meet with you to answer any questions you may have. Here are a few things to be mindful of before you arrive:

Food and Drink
Before your procedure, please refrain from eating or drinking after midnight the day before your procedure. After your procedure, we typically provide juice and a light snack, but your nurse may give you more specific instructions.

Medications and Allergies
Please bring a list of all medications you are taking to the Center on the day of your procedure. If you prefer, it is also acceptable to bring your medications with you. Also, inform us of any allergies that you may have.

Smoking
If you are a smoker, we ask that you refrain from smoking from the day before your procedure until your recovery.

Symptoms of Illness
If you have come down with a cold, sore throat, cough, fever, rash or other unrelated illness, please contact us promptly. Your procedure may need to be rescheduled for a later date.

Clothing and Accessories
You’ll be getting a gown to wear during your procedure, but be sure to wear loose-fitting clothes to go home in following the procedure.

Be sure to bring your glasses in a protective case, but please do not wear jewelry.



After Your Procedure at Star Vascular Access Care

At Star Vascular Access Center, we are dedicated to helping you achieve as smooth of a recovery as possible. Your physician will provide you with specific instructions to optimize your recovery. It is important that you follow them and take any medications exactly as prescribed.

Once you leave our Center, be sure to scrub your hands thoroughly with warm water before and after touching the area around where your procedure was performed. Always check for signs of infection as well as redness and drainage. Do not attempt to remove any staples or strips yourself. Please call our office with any questions or concerns at 210-487-7827.
